Explosion-Proof Cleanrooms

Clean Air Technology has designed and constructed numerous cleanrooms for hazardous work locations for Class 1, Division 1 and Class 1, Division 2 areas, for the electronics, pharmaceutical, and medical industries, clean paint and hard-coat booths and other special applications. Our hazardous location " explosion proof " cleanroom construction utilizes our patented open structural framing catwalk and grating system, above the sealed cleanroom ceiling, so all fluorescent lights, wall plugs, switches, etc. are outside of the cleanroom, and serviced from above.

Fluorescent lights shine through sealed Class 1, Div. 1 lenses. No bell jar style incandescent lights or explosion proof fluorescent lights are used in the cleanroom except for special requirements. Process electrical can be installed through the walls or from above, with rigid conduit and required seal-offs.

All installed electrical connections and building materials meet NFPA 497, NEC, Factory Mutual, and other applicable building codes and standards. Mechanical air handlers and exhaust systems utilize spark resistant blowers, hazardous duty motors, and spark proof, intrinsically safe controls for temperature, humidity, air pressure and LEL limits and alarms. All items are grounded as required with options on dissipative and conductive floors and wall finishes.
